One of the many things which bring us great joy is witnessing the implementation of different projects after our trainings. To ensure the successful implementation of these projects, we continue to offer different kinds of support to the farmers even after the trainings. As such, following last month’s Permaculture Design Course, we were in Mchinji District where we gave out starter packs in form of seedlings and Rabbits to farmers. We realize and recognize that one of the major challenges which Small holder farmers face in Malawi is lack of inputs which include high quality seeds, seedlings, and more

Livestock farming is almost a luxury among local small holder farmers in Malawi as such Rabbit farming is not as popular as it should be despite  it being  one of the most profitable animal farming. Rabbit farming is one of the wisest choices a farmer can make, among other advantages, rabbits often give birth to large litters, take up small space, grow up and reach market size quicker than most livestock (take 4-5months to mature for slaughter) and are easy to manage. By giving the farmers these rabbits, we are giving them a head start into livestock farming as most of these farmers could not afford  to venture into livestock farming on their own.

We dream of the future where no Malawian will never have to go to bed hungry. We have the resources necessary to address these challenges we face as farmers, all we need to do is utilize the available resources and therefore we truly believe that food forests are the long term solutions to solve hunger problem in Malawi.
