At the heart of our mission to create thriving, resilient communities, the last two weeks have been filled with impactful activities and transformative progress. From agro-ecology trainings to permaculture awareness sessions, we are excited to share our journey of positive change across Malawi.
Transforming a Technical College into Paradise
On 3rd December 2024, we announced an ambitious plan to transform a technical college in Lilongwe into a “Paradise” within just 12 months. This project promises to be an inspiring demonstration of what is possible through dedication, vision, and sustainable development. Follow our progress as we turn this dream into reality!
Empowering Farmers with Agro-Ecology Training
From 4th to 5th December 2024, we welcomed 24 farmers from Chikwawa in the Lower Shire for an intensive 2-day agro-ecology training course. This program, held in collaboration with Norwegian Church Aid Malawi and Permaculture Network Malawi, aimed to equip farmers with the knowledge and skills to adopt sustainable and climate-smart agricultural practices. The enthusiasm and engagement from the participants were truly inspiring!
We successfully wrapped up the training on 5th December, and the farmers left empowered, ready to implement new techniques that will strengthen their resilience and boost productivity in their communities.
Supporting Smallholder Farmers in Dowa and Ntchisi
On 8th December 2024, following the completion of the agro-ecology training, we donated seeds and seedlings to farmers in Dowa and Ntchisi districts. This initiative was part of the Improved Livelihoods and Resilience for Smallholder Producers Project in partnership with Norwegian Church Aid Malawi. The donation symbolizes our ongoing commitment to supporting farmers as they adopt sustainable practices and work toward food security and improved livelihoods.
Permaculture Awareness Training in Kasungu
This week, from 9th December, we took our mission to Kasungu District, where we began a 5-day Permaculture Awareness Course at Magalasi Primary School. This training aims to introduce students and the surrounding community to permaculture principles, enabling them to nurture sustainable ecosystems right at their doorstep.
On 10th December, we moved to Mayala Primary School for day two of the training. The energy and curiosity displayed by the participants have been incredibly encouraging.
By 11th December, we reached day three of the training at Mayala Primary School, which has been made possible through generous support from Good Neighbors and in collaboration with Permaculture Network Malawi. These sessions are building a foundation of knowledge that will empower communities to transform their environments through practical, sustainable solutions.
