Blantyre, Malawi – April 22, 2025
The Permaculture Paradise Institute (PPI) launched its highly anticipated 5-day Permaculture Training of Trainers and Beginner Course, welcoming 30 passionate participants representing a wide range of organizations from across Malawi. This initiative marks a significant step toward strengthening permaculture practices and scaling sustainability through knowledge-sharing and practical implementation.
During the opening session, facilitators emphasized the importance of permaculture as a sustainable approach to land management, agriculture, and community development. The participants—ranging from youth workers and farmers to NGO professionals and educators—engaged in interactive sessions focused on the ethics and principles of permaculture.
“This training is not just about growing food; it’s about growing people, growing communities, and nurturing ecosystems,” said one of the lead trainers during the welcome address.

Day One featured a mix of theoretical discussions and practical field exposure, giving participants a glimpse into the holistic thinking that drives permaculture. The atmosphere was vibrant with shared stories, curiosity, and a deep sense of purpose. A highlight of the day was a guided tour of PPI’s demonstration site, showcasing integrated systems including composting, natural building, and agroforestry techniques.
Participants expressed enthusiasm about the course content and the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded individuals from different backgrounds.
“As someone new to permaculture, I already feel inspired by how interconnected everything is,” said a participant from Lilongwe. “I’m looking forward to learning how to apply these ideas in my community.”
With four more days of immersive learning ahead, the training promises to be a transformative experience for both trainers and beginners alike. The Permaculture Paradise Institute continues to position itself as a hub for regenerative education and grassroots ecological leadership in Malawi and beyond.
